Our commitment to Circular Economy

Increasing the share of recycled packaging films and laminates manufactured is a common challenge for us and our Customers.

Increasing the share of recycled packaging films and laminates manufactured is a common challenge for us and our Customers.

The largest European packaging recipients, including our Customers, have committed to ensuring that the flexible packaging they use will be recyclable by the end of 2025.

The key objective for packaging manufacturers is the “European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy”, which sets a clear goal for 2030 – no waste suitable for recycling or other types of recovery will be accepted for landfill.

EU regulations clearly define the rules of technology development for the next dozen or so years. The packaging shall be manufactured of homogeneous materials suitable for economic reuse. As for the food industry, laminates shall have structures based mainly on polypropylene and polyethylene films.

Such decisions are one hundred percent in line with the predictions of Alupol Packaging, which already in 2014 decided to make major investments in polypropylene processing. Our earlier investments in blow moulding lines reinforced the development of polyethylene processing technology.

Since 2017, our Group has been one of Europe’s largest producers of polypropylene BOPP film.

Waste management

Waste management is another process monitored at Alupol companies, and the management of this process is in line with EU and national regulations. The variable amounts of generated waste result mainly from the launch of new installations and technologies and therefore the amount of waste generated per ton of product was indicated as a baseline value.
